Jack Eichel—Hobey Baker Award winner at BU in 2015 and now Stanley Cup champion with Vegas—brought the Cup to Massachusetts last week. A crowd of more than 2,000 greeted him at Skate 3 in Tyngsboro, his home rink growing up in N. Chelmsford.

“It all started for me here at Skate 3,” said Eichel. “It’s where I learned to play and where I learned to skate. It’s where I still come back in the summer to skate.”

Looking ahead

Incoming freshman defenseman Tom Willander—first-round draft pick by Vancouver—spoke with NHL.com about getting ready to begin his collegiate career:

He made the decision to play NCAA hockey because he thought it would be better for his development, and his sociable nature makes him excited about campus life.  "I'm just looking forward to the opportunity to get a lot better this year. Going to class and meeting new people, I feel like that will be fun as well," he said.
