IBUH #7--Quinn, Harper, Pereira

Episode 7 of Inside BU Hockey features Bernie Corbett’s interviews with Coach David Quinn, freshman Patrick Harper and former Terrier co-captain Joe Pereira.

Harper, the Terriers’ leading scorer with 14 points, was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week for his three-
point performance against Michigan last Saturday. He had earned conference Player of the Week honors in early October after scoring five goals in the exhibition win over P.E.I. Harper spent the past two seasons as one of the top scorers in New England Prep hockey, racking up 106 points (40G, 66A) for Avon Old Farms. Previously he skated for the New Jersey Rockets U19s (as a 15 year old) where he was a teammate of fellow freshman Chad Krys

Connecticut native Pereira (photo) was a forward on the Terriers’ 2009 national championship team and, in 2010-11, served as co-captain while tallying a career-best 15 goals. He played 11 AHL games in 2011 and then spent a season with the ECHL South Carolina Stingrays before joining the UConn staff as an assistant to head coach Mike Cavanagh.

► BU Hockey has expanded its staff with the addition of the first-ever director of analytics. Kathryn Yates, who earned a master’s degree from BU’s College of Engineering and who assisted Coach David Quinn with analytics while a grad student, will augment the staff's evaluation of team and individual player performance by using advanced statistics and video.

Looking ahead
FutureConsiderations.ca interviewed 2017 recruit Shane Bowers and his Waterloo teammate Mikey Anderson about the Black Hawks season thus far and the upcoming NHL draft.

Add Ty Amonte (BCHL Penticton) and Cam Crotty (CCHL Brockville) to the list of 2017 recruits who have signed their National Letter of Intent.

Looking back
Former Terrier Cason Hohmann scored his fourth goal of the season and added an assist as ECHL Orlando Solar Bears beat Greenville, 7-4. Ahti Oksanen’s power play goal had given the Swamp Rabbits a 4-3 lead early in the third, but Orlando replied with four goals.
