Incoming freshman Ethan Phillips
discussed his experience at last week’s Red Wings’ development camp. Drafted by
Detroit in the 4th round of last month’s NHL Entry Draft, right-shot forward Phillips split
last season between Selects Academy and USHL Sioux Falls, scoring 43 points in
50 games and helping the Stampede win the Clark Cup title.
Wings chief amateur scout Tyler
Wright:
“He’s undersized, but he’s a very fast skater. He’s got very good hockey sense. He’s got very good skill. At the value of where he was at — he’s going to college, so he’ll have a little more time to develop."

Sullivan has agreed to a four-year contract extension as Penguins head coach.
The former Terrier captain is the first American born coach to win multiple
Stanley Cups and just the second head coach to guide his team to the Cup in
both of his first two seasons with that team.
