As the nation remembers the victims of the 9/11 tragedies on this 18th anniversary, Terrier fans recall one of our own, Mark Bavis, who perished aboard United Flight 175. Along with twin brother Mike Bavis, he played four seasons as a Terrier, reaching the NCAA tournament each season and the Frozen Four twice. After a three-year minor league career and two seasons as a Harvard assistant, Bavis became a scout for the Los Angeles Kings.
Mark’s family and friends established the Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation to allow deserving young men and women to enjoy opportunities and experiences similar to those which contributed to the person that Mark was. Select recipients receive grants for school tuition, summer programs and other appropriate extracurricular activities.
