One week away--UPDATED


BU's season opener at Union College is a week away. It’s a 4:00 p.m. start at Achilles Arena. ECAC home games air live on ESPN+ ($4.99 monthly subscriptions available). The Dutchmen, ranked #8 in the ECAC coaches' poll, edged BU, 2-1, last season at the Friendship Four tournament in Belfast.


Boston Hockey Blog’s Terrier Hockey Talk with reporters Brady Gardner and Patrick Donnelly is back. In Episode 1, they review the past week’s Hockey East Media Day activities for both the men’s and women’s teams.

Looking ahead

2020 recruit Luke Tuch scored a pair of goals and added an assist in the NTDP U18s’ 5-2 win against Green Bay in the USHL Classic. The 6’2”, 203 lb. power forward earned first star honors and has five points in two games. Fellow recruit Drew Commesso played the final 20 minutes in goal, stopping six of seven shots. UPDATE: Tuch assisted on a pair of goals in the U17s' 4-0 win against Sioux City and is team co-leader in points with seven in three games.

2020 recruit Wilmer Skoog scored a goal and added an assist in NAHL Maryland’s 7-3 win against Wilkes Barre/Scranton. The 6’2” forward from Stockholm has twelve points (7G,5A) in eight games.

2020 recruit Jay O’Brien scored his fifth goal just nine seconds into Penticton’s game with West Kelowna and added three assists for a four-point game in the Vees’ 7-3 winCade Webber picked up an assist on Penticton’s third goal. O’Brien, who has a 5-8-13 line in eight games and is tied for the BCHL scoring lead, earned first-star honors.

2021 recruit Artem Shaline scored a goal for Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep in a 5-1 win over Map South and had a pair of assists in the Sabres’ 5-4 win against Twin Cities. The 6’1” Moscow-born center has six points in five Upper Midwest Elite League games.

2022 recruit Ryan Greene discussed his decision to continue at Select Academy and his commitment to BU despite being drafted #59 overall in the 2019 QMJHL draft. He also was selected #3 overall in the USHL Futures Draft by Green Bay.

After attending his first NHL training camp, Jake Oettinger was assigned by Dallas to the AHL Texas Stars where he'll compete for the starting job in goal.
