BU has received a commitment for 2020-21 from 21-year-old
goalie Vincent Duplessis. The 6’1” netminder from Quebec City has spent the past
two seasons in Western Canada Junior A leagues, this past season with AJHL Whitecourt
and the previous year with BCHL Merritt.
Playing 40 regular season games for
the Wolverines, he recorded a 2.72 GAA and a .912 save percentage and was a
finalist for the Friends of AJHL Top Goalie Trophy. In one round of playoffs,
before the season was cancelled, Duplessis led Whitecourt to a 4-2 series win
against Ft. McMurray, fashioning a 1.99 GAA and a .932 save percentage.
He faced off once against fellow AJHL goalie Ashton Abel one time, with Abel’s Okotoks Oilers winning, 5-3.
Abel joined BU midway through last season Duplessis earned AJHL Defensive Player of the
Week honors for Jan. 20-26, backstopping three Wolverine wins with a 1.99 GAA.
BU’s goaltending corps for next season will feature
Duplessis and Abel, along with freshman Drew Commesso, a Massachusetts native
who played for the NTDP U18s this past season.

Looking ahead
NHL.com’s draft profilers turned the spotlight on 2020
recruit Luke Tuch. A 6’2”, power forward, whose brother Alex played for BC
before signing with NHL Las Vegas, Tuch was ranked #40 among North American
skaters for the draft after putting up 30 points (15G, 15A) in 47 games for the
NTDP U18s.
Director of NHL Central Scouting Dan Marr says Luke has a
knack for knowing how to use his size to his advantage in most situations on
the ice, adding:
"Luke plays a physical power-forward game blended with smarts, skills and competitiveness. He plays a similar style as older brother Alex in that they both get results by utilizing size, strength and skating. He plays an effective forecheck game and offers good offensive smarts in the offensive zone to generate chances."
