Flashback to 1986

The 1985-86 Terriers won the first of the program’s nine Hockey East Championships, defeating BC, 9-4.  BU went into the game ranked #6 nationally, while the Eagles were #2. Co-captain—and tournament MVP—Peter Marshall led the way with a hat trick as BU put the game away with a five-goal second period. Brad MacGregor and Jeff Sveen each tallied twice. Terry Tailefer stopped 39 Eagle shots.

Women’s Team

While Sammy Davis, who led the Terriers in scoring with 41 points and earned First Team Hockey East All-Star honors, is exploring opportunities in the NWHL and the PWHPA, she is entering Mass. General Hospital’s doctorate program in occupational therapy. She is also completing a Master’s Degree in Special Education from BU.

Davis scored 142 points (66G,76A) in her four-season/five-year BU career that included a red-shirt season due to a knee injury. She was Beanpot MVP in 2019, scoring the overtime goal that gave BU its second Beanpot title. She recently was named 2020 recipient of the Sarah Devens Award, a joint Hockey East/ECAC Hockey honor that comes with a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship and is presented to a player who “demonstrates leadership and commitment both on and off the ice.”

The $2,500 postgraduate scholarship honors the NCAA hockey student-athlete who helps build the game through support of the next generation of players. At BU, Scarpaci was deeply involved with the East Coast Jumbos of the American Special Hockey Association, in camps and clinics with Pro Ambitions Hockey, and at postgame Skate with the Terriers events. She is enrolled for next year in BU’s Physical Therapy Doctoral Program.
