Looking ahead
EP Rinkside profiled 2021 recruit Tyler Boucher, whom it projects as a second or third round selection in the NHL draft. The 6’1”, 205 right-shot power forward was ranked #25 among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
The article quotes an NHL scout: “Boucher is a power forward. He’s big and powerful. He’s aggressive and physical. He creates offence by powering himself and pucks to the net. He had a tough draft year with injuries and Covid pauses but when he was healthy and rolling, he was a force. It’s getting harder to find guys like him and they’re so valuable come playoff time.”

BU’s 2021 recruit class lost a key member when NTDP U18 defenseman Roman Schmidt elected to sign with Kitchener of the OHL last week. NEHJ’s Jeff Cox reported that this was a move that has been rumored for quite some time. Schmidt had been ranked #58 among North American skaters. There are now two defensemen in the 2021 recruit class, Braden Doyle and Charles-Alexis Legault.
Looking back
Mike Pomicheter was the top scorer (28-26-54) on BU's 1993-94 national finalist squad (34-7-0). He went on to a long minor league career. Now his son, Jake, a left-shot forward playing for the Mid-Fairfield Rangers, is drawing attention and excelled at the New England District Select 15 Festival. NEHJ reported:
Pomichter had a pair of goals Friday night and two helpers in the All-Star Game. He stood out for his north-south ability. He’s not going to dazzle with his stick skill or make too many highlight reel plays. However, he skates well, is heavy on pucks, and is a solid power forward. He takes pucks to the net and does a good job protecting it as he does. Away from the puck, I liked his physicality and work ethic.
Women's Team
Terriers have announced a 14-game home schedule that includes two games each against local rivals BC and Northeastern. The home opener is Oct. 2 against New Hampshire.
