As fans of both Commonwealth Avenue schools await decisions on new head coaches, it’s worth noting that, as College Hockey News tweeted, the only other time BU and BC had coaching openings in the same year was 1972. That's when the Eagles' Snooks Kelley retired and the Terriers' Jack Kelley departed for the new WHA and the Whalers, after BU's back-to-back national championships.
Current associate head coach Jay Pandolfo is increasingly seen by many as the likely next BU head coach, including College Hockey News editor Adam Wodon, who tweeted earlier today:
"Hearing as early as Wednesday for announcement on Jay Pandolfo -> BU head coach. Greg Brown seems likely soon for BC head coach, too."
Meanwhile, journalist Mike McMahon offered a startling revelation in his substack newsletter. He wrote that, when Jack Parker announced his plans to retired in 2013, BU received an inquiry call from NHL legend Scotty Bowman about the position.
► Robert Mastrosimone, who entered the tranfer portal several weeks ago, is headed to Arizona State for his senior season, but he'll be reunited with his Terrier teammates when BU visits the Sun Devils next season.
As the Stanley Cup playoffs begin, seven Terriers will be on the ice and two more will be behind benches. Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk are on the Bruins's blueline, while Charlie Coyle is on the second line. Other skaters are Evan Rodrigues (Penguins), Jordan Greenway (Wild) and Dante Fabbro (Predators), while Jake Oettinger will be in goal for the Stars. The coaches are Mike Sullivan (Penguins) and John Hynes (Predators).

Looking ahead
At the IHF World U18 Championships in Germany, Team USA’s quest for the gold medal fell short with a 6-4 loss to Sweden in the tournament’s title game. 2022 recruit Devin Kaplan, who set up the US’s first goal, finished the tournament with six points (G,5A). Fellow recruit Lane Hutson totaled eight points, all assists.
Prior to the championship games, members of each team selected its three best players of the tournament. For Team USA, they were Hutson, Logan Cooley (Minnesota) and Rutger McGroarty (Michigan).
Following the title game, Hutson was announced as top defenseman in the tournament. Both he and Cooley were named to the media's all-tournament team.
In the USHL playoffs, Tri-City leads Omaha, 2-0. League scoring champion Jeremy Wilmer has five assists in the two wins.

win over Dubuque eliminating Fighting Saints in two games. Two of the goals
were unassisted. Hutson has six post-season goals in four games and leads the
USHL playoff goal scoring and points (9). His 73 regular-season points
(33G,40A) led Muskegon in both goals and points. The Lumberjacks will face
either Chicago or Madison in the Eastern Conference finals.
2023 recruit Jack Musa scored his third post-season goal in Madison’s 4-2 win against defending champion Chicago. The left-shot from Florida has 35 (19G,16A) points in the regular season.

Brady Tkachuk's 30th goal was the game-winner in Ottawa's season-finale 402 win against Philadelphia. He also added his 37th assist to finish the season with a career-best 67 points. Tkachuk told the media.
"30 goals] was a goal of mine going into this year. I wanted to
prove to myself and everybody else that I could do that and I wouldn’t have
been able to do that without my linemates and teammates and everyone pushing in
the right direction."

Former Terrier Chris Bourque has announced his retirement. He spent most of his professional career in the AHL and in Europe with several brief stints with Washington, Pittsburgh and Boston. The highlight of his one season as a Terrier was scoring the championship-winning goal in the 2005 Beanpot (video).

Women's Team
The leadership team for the 2022-23 Terriers has been announced. Rising senior Nadia Mattivi will be captain and rising juniors Lacey Martin and Madison Cardaci will be assistant captains. Mattivi recently led Italy to a bronze medal in the IIFH Group B Women's World Championships and was named the outstanding defenseman in the tournament.
