After taking two steps forward at the Friendship Four in Belfast, #11 Terriers took a disappointing step backward as they were shutout, 4-0, by UMass at Agganis Arena. The official-review-filled game featured five disallowed goals—three for the Minutemen, two for BU—and two major penalties/game misconducts, both to BU.
6’7” UMass goalie Michael Hrabel turned aside all 32 Terrier shots, while Mathieu Caron stopped 33 of 37 attempts. The Minutemen converted three of seven power plays, while BU was oh-for-two.

tw-align-centerPandolfo said he thought the penalty kill "did a pretty good job" despite giving up the three power-play goals.

BU nearly took the lead just 90 seconds in, but Hrabel made a great save on Kamil Bednarik’s backhand attempt.

Three minutes later, UMass scored on the rush when Michael Cameron got behind the BU defense. Caron stopped his shot, but Ryan Lautenbach buried the rebound.

Terriers appeared to tie the game at 8:39 when Cole Hutson beat Hrabel, but a questionable goalie interference call on Shane Lachance erased the tally.

At 11:56, Cole Hutson received a
five minute major for charging along with a game misconduct. UMass had six
shots on the extended man-advantage, all stopped by Caron. The period ended
with the visitors on top, 1-0.
BU had an opportunity to knot the
score with a carried-over UMass penalty from the first period and another
early in the second period. Six shots produced no goals. BU fired 15 shots at
Hrabel in the period with nothing to show for it.
At the 15 minute mark, Brandon Svoboda jousted in front of the UMass net with a defender and was called for a five-minute major for cross-checking and also received a game misconduct. (You judge.)

This time, UMass took advantage and connected for goals by Daniel Jenčko and Lucas Ovestad and took a 3-0 lead into the third period.
After what would have been Sascha Boumedienne’s first collegiate goal was wiped away for goalie interference, a too men many penalty put UMass back on the power play and Kenny Connors converted to make it 4-0.
tw-align-centerPandolfo on if he ripped into the team or took a more measured approach in his messaging postgame:
