All-Rookie honors for Eiserman and Hutson; Women face Clarkson in NCAA Regional

Cole Hutson and Cole Eiserman were named to Hockey East's All-Rookie Team with Hutson being a unanimous choice. Earlier in the week, the duo shared the conference's Rookie of the Week Award. 

BU Hockey Stats points out that "For the 18th consecutive season (since 2007-08), a Terrier has been named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, the next longest active streak is BC with 3." 

The Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Year will be announced prior to the conference semifinals next week. Eleven Terrier have previously won the R-O-Y: Scott Young, Scott Cashman, Rick DiPietro, Kieran Millan,Colin Wilson, Charlie Coyle Jack Eichel, Clayton Keller, David Farrance, Lane Hutson and Macklin Celebrini.

Joining the Terriers on the team were BC's James Hagens and Teddy Stiga, UMass' Francesco Dell'Elce, Vermont's Colin Kessler and UConn's Callum Tung.

►UMass edged Vermont, 2-1, in the opening round of the Hockey East playoffs, so the Minutemen will be the #9/7 Terriers' opponent in Saturday's quarterfinal game at Agganis Arena. Puck drop is at 4:30 p.m.  

In other quarter finals match-ups, UConn will host Providence on Friday, while BC hosts Northeastern and Maine welcomes Lowell on Saturday.

►Boston Hockey Blog examined the continuing progress of Sascha Boumedienne, who began the season as D1's youngest player and has blossomed into a dependable two-way defender and contributor. 

“He continues to grow as a player pretty much every game,” head coach Jay Pandolfo said after the Terriers’ 3-0 win over Providence on Feb. 15.

Looking back

Lane Hutson assisted on a pair of goals in Montreal's 5-4 overtime loss to Seattle. With 51 points, he leads Celebrini by three points in the NHL Rookie Scoring race.

Women's Team

#11 Terriers, making their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2015, take on #9 Clarkson in the Madison, Wisconsin, Regional at LaBahn Arena tonight at 8 p.m. ET.  Live-streams are available on ESPN+ and TSN+. 

The 24-12-2 Golden Knights are led by Senior Haley Winn, who averages 1.25 points per game, was a top 10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier award. Netminder Holly Gruber has the sixth-best GAA in the NCAA (1.388).
