Friday night, it was three very early goals. Saturday #14/13 BU needed three between the third period and overtime to overcome a stubborn #19 Maine squad, 3-2.
Down 2-0 after two periods and largely outplayed, Terriers responded with a pair of Tynan Lawrence goals--one on a power play, the other on the rush--to tie the score. Then, in the extra period, Caleb Malhotra, showing highlight-reel moves, ripped home the game-winner. BU gained the extra standings point and took home 5 of 6 points for the weekend.
Mikhail Yegorov came up big for the Terriers throughout the game, making 34 saves. His 19 first-period stops included a clean breakaway, 10 saves during three power plays and numerous other Grade A's.
Pandolfo post-game begins at 3:43.
Terriers were fortunate to come out of the opening 20 minutes down only 2-0. The Black Bears out-shot BU 21-8, blocked nine attempts and won the majority of the battles along the boards and behind the BU cage. Maine's strategy was to drive to the crease and fire as many shots as possible on Mikhail Yegorov.
They took the lead at 5:37, forcing a turnover behind the goal and sending it out front where two forwards and a crashing defenseman were in position and out-manned the BU defense. Rowan Calvert poked the loose puck past Yegorov.
BU's best scoring chance came on a shorthanded 2-on-1 rush, but Malhotra's pass to Jack Harvey was in the captain's skates.
Black Bear tenacity and O-zone domination continued and at 14:45, Lee Parks controlled the puck along the left boards and centered it to Max Scott unmarked in between the circle. He fired a shot under the crossbar to double the visitors' lead.
Shots were much closer in the scoreless middle period—8 to 6 UMO—but the visitors' tight-checking and active sticks kept BU from consistently activating its speed game.
That began to change in the third period with Maine looking to protect it's lead. With BU skating with a 4-on-3 man-advantage, Albin Boija robbed Malhotra on shot from below the circle. On the next sequence, Lawrence and Conrad Fondrk exchanged passes above the circle, before the St. Louis Blues' #1 draft pick received the puck in the right circle and one-timed a laser over Boija's left shoulder. Lawrence's sixth goal cut the deficit to one.

Aided by smoother breakouts, BU, who would out-shoot Maine 12-6 in the period, created several grade A chances. With just over two minutes remaining—and a decision on pulling Yegorov imminent—BU knotted the score. Jack Murtagh sent Harvey racing up ice and across the Maine blueline. He slowed as defenders skated past and slid the puck to a trailing Lawrence, who wired a shot over Boija's blocker.

In overtime, after Yegorov turned aside the Black Bears' only shot attempt, Haoxi Wang skated to center ice, dropped the puck to Harvey who connected with Malhotra entering the O-zone. The freshman center, who has been snakebit in recent games, deked around two defenders, skated into the left circle and rifled a shot high over Boija's right shoulder to deliver the victory. It was the second goal of the season for the Canuck's #1 draft pick.

Maine finished with an incredible 26 blocks of Terrier attempts. BU had 12 blocks, led by Aiden Celebrini with three. Terriers had a 33-23 edge on face-offs with Malhotra going 8 of 15 and Brandon Svoboda 5 of 8.
BU killed all four Black Bear power plays while converting one of five man-advantages.
