Junior goalie Kieran Millan, earning first-star honors for the second consecutive night, helped BU complete a 3-point weekend in Maine with 41 saves in a 1-1 overtime time. The score belies the on ice action as the Black Bears outshot BU, 42-20, including a 20-3 advantage in the opening period.
Maine opened the scoring on its first shot, a screened blueline blast by Will O’Neill, whose father,Bill, played for the Terriers 1978 national championship team. BU also scored on its first shot, but had to wait until the seven-minute mark. Killing a penalty, co-captains Chris Connolly and Joe Pereira broke in on the Maine goalie, 2-on-1, with Pereira knotting the score on his 11th of the season.
Along with Millan’s heroics, BU’s penalty kill was critical to gaining the tie, stopping all seven Maine power plays.
The three-point weekend keeps BU in third place in Hockey East, five points behind BC and UNH.

Looking back
The Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa talked with Kevin Shattenkirk at the NHL all-star festivities in Raleigh, N.C. The former Terrier captain was one of twelve rookies invited to the All-Star game to participate in the skills competition.
“No chance. No chance,’’ the Colorado rookie said when asked if he ever imagined being with the All-Stars only a year after doing his thing on Commonwealth Avenue. “I figured I’d probably have some time down in the minors. But obviously things have fallen into place and worked out. It’s been great.’’
Women's team
Terriers completed a weekend sweep of UConn with a 4-1 victory at Storrs for BU's 13th consecutive victory. Four different players produced goals--Lauren Cherewyk, Kasey Boucher, Jennelle Kohanchuk and Kasey Boucher--while goalie Kerrin Sperry, who came with four mintues of another shutout, improved her record to 15-0-2.
