Terriers dug themselves a 3-0 hole after 27 minutes against Merrimack and, despite 38 saves by Kieran Millan and a furious third-period rally, fell to the Warriors, 3-2. BU got goals from freshman Charlie Coyle and senior co-captain Joe Pereira, his tenth of the season. Pereira also had a breakaway opportunity early in the second period, but was thwarted by the Warriors' Joe Canata. Three BU penalties late in the final period, including a controversial tripping call on co-captain David Warsofsky, blunted the comeback.
Merrimack scored the only goal in the first period and extended the lead with a pair in the second period in a span of less than three minutes.
BU continued its strong penalty-killing, foiling all seven man-advantage situations for the hosts, but the Terrier power play, which had been improved in recent games, could only muster two shots on goal in five power plays.
