IBUH #12: Quinn, Carpenter, Ryan; BU Terriers All Access--Episode 2 airs tonight on NESN

Episode 12 of Inside BU Hockey features Bernie Corbett’s interviews with Head Coach David Quinn, freshman center Bobo Carpenter and former Terrier captain and current radio color commentator Tom Ryan.

Carpenter, the son of former NHL standout Bob Carpenter, centers BU’s third line and, with three goals in the past four games, now has eight points. He graduated from Austin Prep in 2014 after producing 70 points during two seasons. Last year, Carpenter played for USHL Sioux City and tied for the league lead in goals with 35 while adding 28 assists.

Ryan spent four seasons on the Terrier blueline beginning in 1984-85, scoring 55 points. As a sophomore he was paired on defense with Quinn as BU won its first Hockey East championship. Ryan and Quinn were co-captains as seniors, although a blood disorder forced Quinn to the sidelines for the season. During his BU career, his teammates included current Terrier assistant Scott Young, Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan, All-Time BU scoring champion John Cullen, Clark Donatelli, Ed Loweny, Joe Sacco, Dave Tomlinson and Mike Kelfer. A 1984 Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Babson College under former BU All-American Steve Stirling and in 2008-09 returned to his high school alma mater, Newton North, as head hockey coach.  Ryan has been Corbett’s radio sidekick since the 1992-93 season.

This episode (on NESN Jan. 14) will also be available for online viewing soon. Episode 1 can be seen here.
