Quarterfinal Saturday




At the World Junior Championships, all four current Terriers and one future one are in action today.  Sweden has already defeated Slovakia, 6-0, with Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson assisting on two goals and earning "Player of the Game" honors for Sweden.

Brandon Hickey and Canada take on host team Finland,  while Team USA (Brandon Fortunato, Charlie McAvoy, Chad Krys) faces the Czech Republic.  Games air live on NHL Network.


Looking ahead

2016 recruit Dante Fabbro scored a pair of power play goals, including the game-winner, as first-place Penticton blanked Vernon, 6-0. The 6'1" right-shot defenseman from Coquitlam, British Columbia, who helped Canada West win gold at the World Junior A Challenge last month, has a 9-31-40 scoring line in just 25 games for the Vees.

As the Shattuck St. Mary's Bantams, the nation's top-ranked Tier 1 Bantam team, prepares to resume play at the Silverstick Tournament, two future Terriers are among the Sabres' top scorers.  Forward Robert Mastrosimone has 74 points (36G, 38A) while BU's newest recruit, defenseman Braden Doyle (photo), has a 7-23-30 line.


Looking back
Sahir Gill scored a goal and Adam Clendening registered an assist in the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins’ 6-3 loss to Syracuse. Clendening is on a conditioning assignment from Pittsburgh. Former BU standout and Olympian Clark Donatelli took over as the Baby Penguins’ head coach last month when Mike Sullivan, captain of the 1990-91 Terriers, was promoted to Pittsburgh’s head coach.

Women’s Team
Three former Terriers skated in yesterday’s inaugural Outdoor Women’s Classic at Gillette Stadium. Shannon Doyle and Kaleigh Fratkin skated for the Boston Pride of the NWHL, while Marie-Philip Poulin, BU’s all-time points leader (181) and current top scorer in Canada’s CWHL, played for Les Canadiennes.
