BU's long layoff since winning the Beanpot ends tomorrow when the #13 Terriers begin a home-and-home series with BC at Conte Forum. Coach Albie O'Connell, in his weekly media call, reported that the team is "dialed in to what we're doing," noting that practices have been "short and hard" and at "high tempo."
He added that the time off has been good for players who had been sick or dinged up. [Several players were less than 100% for the Beanpot final and Alex Vlasic missed the game due to illness].
Does the 11 days between games help or hurt a team that's been on a roll since the end of November, going 13-1-1 since then? "We hope it's a good thing," O'Connell said. While the team has worked on all aspects of the game, there's been added focus on "shooting off (offensive zone) face off wins," as well as conditioning and "keeping the skill set up."
O'Connell is undecided on goaltending assignments for the series, pointing out that the staff is "comfortable with either guy." He also praised goalie coach Brian Daccord for his work with the goalies that has contributed to the improved results.
