Freshman Lane Hutson and senior Matt Brown have been named to the Eastern All-American teams by the American Hockey Coaches Association. Hutson was named to the First-Team and Brown to the Second. Both had previously earned spots as Hockey East First Team All-Stars, while Hutson was named the conference's Rookie-of-the Year.
Hutson led the Terriers and Hockey East in overall scoring with 48 points (15G,33A), which eclipsed by one Brian Leetch's mark for most points by a freshman defenseman. He also garnered the Walter Brown Awards as top U.S. born player in New England.
Brown was just one point behind Hutson with a 16-31-47 scoring line. He tied Wilmer Skoog for most goals by a Terrier this season. With assists in the Cornell and Minnesota games, Brown finishes his college career with 101 points (37G,64A).
2022-23 marked the first time since 2015-16 that two Terriers earned All-American status. Brown is the first Terrier forward named All-American since Jack Eichel in 2015 and Danny O'Regan in 2016. Hutson joins a long line of BU defensemen to earn All-American honors, including David Farrance, Charlie McAvoy, Matt Grzelcyk, Colby Cohen, Kevin Shattenkirk and Matt Gilroy.
