Future and former Terriers on the scoresheets

Looking ahead

USA Hockey’s NTDP teams began their seasons with victories and future Terriers played a big role in each win.

The U17s defeated the El Paso, 5-3, at the NAHL Showcase with four goals scored by 2007 skaters who committed to BU this summer. Forward Conrad Fondrk (photo) opened the scoring on a power play and would later add two helpers. The first assist also was on a power play as he set up defenseman Charlie Trethewey for a one-timer. In the second period, center Jack Murtagh scored shorthanded and then Trethewey nailed his second goal, again with a man-advantage and an apple from Fondrk.

The U18s took on defending USHL Champion Youngstown in a pre-season game and came away with a dominating 8-1 win. Center Kamil Bednarik, who had 20 goals and 24 assists last season, scored a goal and added an assist.

2024 recruit Hunter Hady scored his first goal and an assist to help USHL Chicago beat Muskegon, 7-4. The 6’4” defenseman had a 1-15-16 line for the Steel last season.

2024 recruit Michael Chambre stopped eight of nine shots for Sioux Falls over 30 minutes of action, but the Stampede would drop a 4-2 decision to Sioux City. The Florida native played for the NTDP U18s last season.

Looking back

The puck was going in the net for a pair of recent alums, too.

At the Southeast Rookie Showcase, Dom Fensore scored the game’s first goal—and his first professional tally—in Carolina’s 4-1 win against Florida. Last year’s BU captain, who signed a one-year contract with AHL Charlotte, assisted on the ‘Canes second goal. Wilmer Skoog made his pro debut for the Panthers.

In a Rookie game at PPL Center, Allentown, Matt Brown opened the scoring for the Flyers in a 4-2 loss to the Rangers. The Wood Ridge, N.J. native, who has been turning heads at rookie camp, was BU’s second leading scorer last season with 47 points, earning Hockey East First-Team All-Star honors and a second-team All-American berth.
