Looking ahead

With the NHL Draft just a few weeks away, projections for the draftees are beginning to appear on hockey Web site. The Scouting Report’s rankings have 2012 recruit Sam Kurker (photo) rated #62 and suggest he could move and be a high second round choice. TSR ranks 2013 recruit Robbie Baillargeon at #66 and notes that the former Cushing Academy standout is likely to return to his natural center position in his final USHL season after playing wing most of the  past season with Indiana.

The BU recruits attending the NHL Combine in Toronto, Kurker, Baillargeon and Danny O’Regan, all made the top ten in several categories of the physical workouts. Baillargeon was second in hand-eye coordination. Kurker finished fifth in pushups/body weight and sixth in push strength, while O’Regan was fourth in bench pressing and ninth in pushups.

After returning from the Combine, Baillargeon posted his final blogpost for New England Hockey Journal.

A highlight reel of the NTDP U18s' season, heavy on the World U18 Championships features goals by three BU 2012 recruits. Goals by Matthew Lane (21) at 6:39, Matt Grzelczyk (7) at 8:05) and O’Regan (15) at 10:30.

Massachusetts has named its representatives to this summer’s USA Hockey Player Development camps. 2014 recruit Jack Eichel will participate in the Select 16 Festival in July, beginning July 7. Last summer at the Select 15 festival, the Chemlsford native led all scorers with a 7-7-14 line in 15 games and was named top forward at the event by U.S. Hockey Report. Heading to the Select 17 festival is St. Sebastian’s forward Corey Ronan, whose father, Ed Ronan, played for two BU Final Four clubs, and whose cousin, Matt Ronan, is a current Terrier.
