Captain Clutch delivers gold for Canada; Watching the scoreboard

Captain Marie-Philip Poulin scored the third “golden goal” of her Olympic career to lead Canada to a 3-2 win over Team USA in the gold-medal game in Beijing. The former Terrier captain and standout had two goals in the game along with an assist bringing her points total for the 2022 games to 17.

She also tallied the game-winner in the 2010 and 2014 finals and had a goal in the 2018 final, won by the U.S., making her the only Olympian to score in four goal medal games. Poulin scored a total of seven goals in those four games.

Poulin also become the first Terrier to win four Olympic medals, breaking her tie with track star David Hemery.

Jesse Compher, who captained the BU women’s team in 2020-21, scored three goals and an assist for Team USA and was the first Terrier to represent the U.S. in women’s Olympic hockey.
