For the second time in three weeks, sophomore Vinny Duplessis is Hockey East's Goaltender of the Week. Last Monday, he helped bring the Beanpot back to Commonwealth Avenue with a perfect 19 save performance in BU's 1-0 win against Northeastern. It was the second shutout in the Terriers' 31 Beanpot championship game victories.

Duplessis also earned top goalie honors on Feb. 7 following another shutout, 4-0 against Maine with 27 saves made. As a freshman, he was named Goalie of the Week once and Rookie of the Week once.

Following an idle weekend when the rest of Hockey East was in action, BU is currently tied for fifth with Northeastern. The Terriers have four regular season games remaining: a home-and-home with BC beginning Friday and a pair at Maine the following weekend.

Poll Story

In the USCHO Weekly poll BU moves up from #17 to #13. ESPN's John Buccigross has the Terriers at #12, Everything College Hockey has BU at #14, and in the all-important Pairwise rankings, BU is tied with UConn at #14.

Looking ahead

2022 recruit Quinn Hutson scored his 24th goal—tied for most in the USHL—and assisted on two other scores to lead Muskegon past Youngstown, 4-2. Hutson is third in USHL scoring with 55 points. 2023 recruit Shane Lachance had a goal and an assist for the Phantoms.

2023 recruit Michael Chambre turned aside 23 of 25 shots in the NTDP U17s' 3-2 shootout win over defending USHL champion Chicago. 2023/2024 recruit Ryan Fine scored late in the third period to tie the game.

On Friday, 2023 recruit Jack Harvey scored his 14th goal in the Steel's 3-2 win against Madison.

2023 recruit Nick Roukounakis scored his sixth goal in West Kelowna's 8-4 win against Trail.

Looking back

Jack Eichel’s first goal as a Golden Knight was the game-winner in a 4-1 victory over San Jose. The 2015 Hobey Baker Award winner also had an assist, while Nick Bonino had the Sharks’ only goal.

Following up on a 46 save effort in a 4-1 win against Colorado, Jake Oettinger stopped all 30 shots in regulation and overtime plus four out of five in the shootout as Dallas blanked Chicago, 1-0, on Friday.  Oettinger’s four-game win streak ended last night when the Stars dropped a 3-1 decision (including an empty-netter) to Arizona despite 24 saves by the Lakeville, Minn., native. Clayton Keller assisted on the game-winning power-play goal for the Coyotes and hit the empty net for his 20th of the season.

TheHockeyNews.com Three Stars Stand Out

Trevor Zegras assisted on three goals in the Ducks’ 7-4 win against Vancouver. His 38 points (13G, 25A) puts him in second place among NHL rookies in scoring and makes him a strong candidate for the NHL's Calder Trophy as top rookie. Chris Drury is the only Terrier to have won the award, after scoring 44 points in 1998-99.

Women’s Team

In the final weekend of the regular season, Terriers tied Providence, 1-1 OT, and then lost to the Friars, 2-1, again in overtime. They finish sixth in the Hockey East standings and will face #3 Connecticut on Saturday, Feb. 26.
