No surprise that Wilmer Skoog's goal directly off a face off against Providence made Hockey East's Plays of the Week.

Commesso and six other Terriers are part of a record number 43 Hockey East representatives participating in Olympic hockey this month. Marie Philip Poulin will captain Canada’s women’s team while Jesse Compher will skate for Team USA. On the men’s side, David Quinn is the head coach of Team USA with Scott Young as one of his assistants. Commesso and David Warsofsky are rostered U.S. players. Brandon Yip is the captain of host China’s team, which will face the U.S. a week from today (Feb. 10) in the first preliminary round game.

This date in BU Hockey History: Feb. 3, 1972

Trailing 2-1 after two period, the Terriers erupted for four final- period goals to foil Colgate’s upset hopes with a 5-3 win at Walter Brown Arena. Early in the third period, BU found the net three times in four minutes on goals by Bob Gryp, Paul Giandomenico and Toot Cahoon. The Red Raiders narrowed the lead to 4-3, but Bob Brown’s second goal at the 16-minute mark put the game away. BU had 57 shots on goal including 20 in the scoreless first period. Goalie Ed Walsh, filling in for injured Dan Brady, picked up the win as BU improved its record to 16-2-1.

Brady's injury necessitated Tim Regan's early departure from the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan, where Team USA would win a silver medal.
