Women dispatch Moncton; Recruits shine at USHL Showcase

Five different skaters found the net for the Terrier Women’s team in its 5-1 exhibition game win against Université de Moncton Friday night at Walter Brown Arena.

Junior Andi Calderon, senior Brooke Ersoy and freshman Brooke Disher connected to give BU a 3-0 first period lead. The visiting Blue Eagles got on the board in the second period, but goals by freshman Sydney Healey and senior Julia Nearis put the game out of reach in the third period. The Calderon and Nearis goals came on power plays.

Sophomore goalie Callie Shanahan, grad transfer (from national champion Ohio State) Andrea Brandii and freshman Allie Cuellar each played a period, stopping a combined 14 of 15 shots, while BU fired 48 shots on the Moncton net.

Brian Durocher’s squad opens the regular season on Oct. 7 at WBA against Rensselaer.
