A day after ringing up a six-pack of goals, #13 Terriers came up dry as they were blanked by #3 Michigan State at Munn Arena, 5-0. Spartan goalie Joshua Ravensbergen, whom BU chased from the net after allowing four goals Friday, stopped all 25 shots and yielded almost no rebounds. With the loss, the Terriers are 7-3-0 after 10 games.
Injuries to Conrad Fondrk and Aiden Celebrini necessitated lineup changes, although Coach Jay Pandolfo wasn't using those absences as an excuse. Jaxon Wismer reportedly was a healthy scratch.

For the Terriers, the game started as badly as possible. The expected response from the Spartans began with a heavy forecheck and puck control behind the BU goal line. Cayden Lindstrom sent the puck to Patrick Geary at the blueline. His one-timer whizzed past a screened Mikhail Yegorov to the stick side just 32 seconds after puck drop.

To their credit the Terriers didn't let that lightening bolt send them into a funk. They skated with the Spartans but managed only seven shots to MSU's 16.
The other highlight of the opening period was a collision along the boards with 6'5" Carter Amico putting a shoulder into 6'6" Ethan Belchetz.
MSU doubled the lead early in the second period. Anthony Romani's shot rang the post and the rebound fell to unmarked Belchetz who slid the puck past Yegorov.

Right after Ravensbergen denied bids by Ryder Ritchie and Xavier Villeneuve, the Spartans extended the lead on Eric Nilson's center-point shot with Shane Vansaghi planted right outside the crease.

If the Terriers harbored any hopes of a comeback, Vansaghi popped that balloon two minutes into the final period. He completed a partial breakaway by roofing a shot over Yegorov. Lindstrom capped the scoring late in the period burying a third-chance rebound from just outside the blue paint.
There were no power plays in the game, despite a total of 62 penalty minutes. There were five sets of matching penalties including two sets of misconducts.
Yegorov finished with 32 saves on 37 shots, while BU's shot total was 25.
Terriers have a quick turnaround as they'll host Harvard on Tuesday.
