JFK=HE POW; Three future Terriers in USHL Top Prospect Game

Sophomore assistant captain Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson has been named Hockey East’s Warrior Player of the Week after racking up five goals on just eight shots in the wins against Union and UMass (Frozen Fenway). His hat trick against Union included the game-tying goal and the overtime winner. Chad Krys, with a goal in both games, earned a spot on the weekly top performers’ list.

Terriers remain at #5 in both the USCHO weekly poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

Hockey East announced today that Boston University senior forward Tommy Kelley has been suspended for one game stemming from an incident at 8:05 of the second period on Sunday, January 8th against Massachusetts. Kelley will miss Friday’s game against Boston College and be able to return to the Terriers’ lineup Monday, January 16th against the Eagles.

Looking ahead
Three future Terriers will skate for Team West in the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game tonight in Sioux Falls. 2017 recruit Shane Bowers (photo) of Waterloo will join two members of the host Stampede, 2017 recruit Kasper Kotkansalo and 2018 recruit Matthew Quercia, for the contest that will showcase leading skaters eligible for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Bowers is one of two A-rated prospects for the June 2017 draft who will compete in the Top Prospects game. NHL Central Scouting’s Greg Rajanen says:
"[Bowers] is a hard-working, smart, two-way player. He's a solid skater, with good passing ability. He makes players around him better and has a very good feel for game. He uses his size well in contact areas."
