Q. Hutson, M. Celebrini power BU to sweep of Lowell; Women defeat UNH

Behind Quinn Hutson's first career hat trick, Macklin Celebrini's four assists and Lane Hutson's sixth goal in the last four games, #9/8 Terriers routed Lowell, 6-1, to sweep the home-and-home series. A crowd of 4,819 at Agganis Arena saw BU claim six points in the Hockey East standings, and as @BUHockeyStats tweeted, register its first sweep of the River Hawks in 13 seasons. Mathieu Caron was a standout in goal once again, stopping 28 of 29 shots and shutting out Lowell for the first 52:50.

Following the game, a please Head Coach Jay Pandolfo told the media, “I thought our guys, for the most part, had a pretty good weekend, overall. I thought we got contributions from up and down the lineup, from our goaltender on out.”

More comments from Pandolfo, Quinn Hutson and Caron are linked below.

From the getgo, the Terriers had their "fast, direct and aggressive" game on display, creating opportunities and hunting pucks in all three zones. At 7:46, Tom Willander put a long pass on Doug Grimes' stick as he entered the offensive zone. Sam Stevens got a step on the defense and Grimes dished the puck to him for a shot that beat goalie Luke Pavicich.

Less than a minute later, BU struck again. Luke Tuch sent Celebrini up the left boards. He squeezed past a Lowell attempt to body him and created a 2-on-1 rush. Macklin held the puck and then sent it to an unmarked Quinn Hutson for a backdoor goal.

BU's only goal in the second period came on a 5-on-3 power play. Lane Hutson whipped a wrister past Pavicich with Shane Lachance screening him. Macklin Celebrini and Willander had the apples.

Terriers added three more tallies in the third period, with Quinn Hutson recording the first two. At 6:12, he scored on a backdoor play that looked a great deal like his first with Macklin Celebrini taking a long pass from Willander, stickhandling toward the net and then slipping the puck to Hutson for the finish.

Then at 12:24, Quinn redirected a blueline blast by Case McCarthy to complete his hat trick. Celebrini provided his fourth assist of the evening.

The River Hawks finally got on the board at 12:50 when Adam Cardona rifled a hard wrister past Caron, cut the lead to 5-1. With two minutes remaining, junior transfer Jack Hughes collected his first goal as a Terrier. Luke Tuch recorded his second assist of the game, protecting the puck before centering a pass to Hughes who backhanded it home.
