BU #2 in H.E. Media Poll; Future Terriers hit the ice and find the net

The Hockey East Media Poll has been released. Terriers are projected for #2, behind defending champion BC, with Maine and Providence rounding out the top four.

A pre-season All-HE team also was chosen by the media with Tom Willander being the only Terrier voted to the team.

Looking ahead

The Terriers' season-opener is four weeks away, but many of BU's recruits playing with junior teams saw their initial action in exhibition games.

Five-star 2026 recruit Tynan Lawrence introduced himself to the USHL with a goal, an assists and an impressive open-ice hit in Muskegon's 9-3 rout of Chicago.

In his first BCHL game, 2026 recruit Caleb Malhotra--also a five-star prospect--scored 1:19 into overtime to give Chilliwack a 6-5 win against Langley.  Puck Preps ranked Malhotra as its #4 Canadian skater for NCAA recruiting and its #15 2008 birthdate overall after he put up 48 points (23G,25A) in 48 regular-season games and  a dozen more in the playoffs to lead Vaughn Kings 16U AAA to the GTHL championship.

2025 recruit Jack Pridham notched a hat trick in his first outing of the season for BCHL West Kelowna, a 7-3 loss to Cranbrook. The 6'2" right wing, who was drafted 92nd overal by the Blackhawks in the 2024 draft, was a first-team All-Rookie last season after putting up 49 points (23G,26A) in 54 games, followed by 10 goals in 11 playoff games.

2025 recruit John McNelis (photo) scored a goal and assisted on two others in Sioux Falls' 8-3 win over Sioux City.  McNelis, who was a second-team All-Rookie last season with 38 points (18G, 20A), was a smallish wing when he committed last summer, but now is 5' 11", 165 lbs.

BU's newest 2025 recruit, Jonathan Morello scored his first goal for Dubuque in a 5-2 loss to Cedar Rapids. The 6'3" forward from Toronto was a fifth-round Bruins' draft pick this past June. A 57-point scorer for OJHL St. Michael's, he originally was committed to Clarkson, but switched his verbal to BU in late August.

2025 recruit Aidan Souligny, a 6'2" defenseman, now in his second BCHL season, had an assist for Prince George in 5-2 loss to Surrey.
