Jonathan Morello, a 6'3", 197 lb., left-shot center from Toronto, has committed to BU for 2025-26. A fifth-round draft pick of the Bruins in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, he had previously been committed to Clarkson, but re-opened his recruitment after the Golden Knights' coach announced he'll move to Cornell after the upcoming season.
Morello, who turned 18 in July, will skate the 2024-25 season with USHL Dubuque before joining an already-strong 2025 Terriers recruit class.
Morello is coming off a pair of strong seasons with the OJHL St. Michael's Buzzers. Last year, he produced a 25-32-57 scoring line in 50 regular-season games, earning OJHL First-Team All Prospect and Top Prospect awards. In addition, "he was dominant during the playoffs, recording 21 points in just 11 games," according to The Hockey News.
“Jonathan had a great playoff and demonstrated that his upside curve is in motion,” St. Michael’s Head Coach and General Manager Rich Ricci told the OJHL. “He has the size and speed of a pro already. His development offensively is key for his progression. Time is on his side to round out as a complete player. His face offs are elite and his defensive zone reads are good.”
Morello skated in the 2023 World Junior A Challenge for silver-medal winning Canada East with a 1-5-6 line in six games. He also participated in the OJHL's 2024 Junior All-Star hockey tournament where he was awarded the title of fastest skater.

The previous campaign he generated 40 points (16G,24A) for St. Michael's. Earlier he skated for the Toronto Red Wings in the GTHL.
FloHockey.tv's Chris Peters final draft ranking placed Morello at #95.

With 57 points in 50 OJHL regular-season games and an additional 21 in 11 playoff games, Morello simply got better and better as the year went on. The fact that he’s a higher-end skater in a 6-foot-3 frame with some room to fill out is even better for his overall projection. He’s going to need some time to develop and is currently on the college path, but as a late July birthdate in this class, he’s seemingly only scratching the surface.
Morello spoke with the media in Las Vegas following his selection by the Bruins.
