Linkorama



The honors keep coming for David Farrance, who has been named the 2019-20 winner of the Bob Monahan Award as top college defenseman in New England. Named for the longtime Boston Globe sportswriter, the award is given by the New England Hockey Writers Association. Farrance also was named to the New England D1 All-Star Team. 

Patrick Curry was runner up for the Frank Jones Award, given to New England’s top defensive forward. He had been named top defensive forward in Hockey East.

Terrier Director of Hockey Operations Eddie Effinger is departing the hockey program after one season to become head coach at St. Olaf’s, a Northfield, Minn., Division 3 program. Prior to joining Coach Albie O’Connell’s staff, Effinger had been an assistant coach at his alma mater, Amherst College, for six seasons.

NTDP player feature: Luke Tuch . Ranked #40 among North American skaters for the 2020 NHL draft, power forward Tuch had 15 goals and 15 assists for the NTDP U18s.

Looking back   
 Former BU captain Pete MacArthur has joined the coaching staff at 44 Vision Hockey, following a long career in North American minor leagues and Europe.  MacArthur, who scored 147 points as a Terrier, led the 2005-06 Hockey East champions squad in scoring with 39 points. He served as captain in 2007-08 and had a team-high 45 points.

Colby Cohen talks about the Terriers comeback win in the 2009 NCAA championship game and playing in the NHL on a Latkeroom podcast. Cohen scored the overtime game-winner and was named Most Outstanding Player of the Frozen Four.


Women’s Team


The 2020-21 Terriers will be led by co-captains Jesse Compher and Nara Elia. Wearing the “A” will be Kaleigh Donnelly and Kristina Schuler.

Seniors Abby Cook and Sammy Davis and junior goalie Corinne Schroeder have been named to the New England D1 All-Star Team, selected by the New England Hockey Writers Association.

Davis also is the winner of the 2020 Sarah Devens Award, jointly awarded by Hockey East and the ECAC to a player who demonstrates leadership and commitment on and off the ice. The award carries a $10,000 post graduate scholarship.
