Hockey East says "game on"

On Wednesday, Hockey East announced its intention to conduct 2020-21 seasons for both men’s and women’s program. While start dates, schedules and other details will be revealed at a later date, the conference indicated that it will emphasize intra-conference play in order to ensure “the health, safety, and physical and mental well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, on-ice officials, league staff, and school administrators.”

Earlier in the week, college hockey writer Jimmy Connelly posted a series of Tweets suggesting that games were unlikely to begin before mid-to-late November and there could be as many as 30 league games. That information has not been confirmed.

Looking back

As the NHL returns to action, former Terrier captain and All-American Matt Grzelcyk is writing a Bubble Blog for NHL.com: his first entry.

NHL.com’s Color of Hockey blog turned its attention to former Terrier forward Eddie Wright who became the first Black coach of an NCAA hockey team. Wright led the University at Buffalo’s skaters for 12 seasons and later was a scout for the Anaheim Ducks.

Wright arrived at BU in 1965 along with his Chatham, Ontario, neighbor Herb Wakabayashi, whom he joined on BU’s “Pinball Line,” along with Serge Boily, during his senior season, scoring 32 points (16G,16A). Career stats

Women’s Team

Natasza Tarnowski will begin her professional career with KMH Budapest in the European Women’s Hockey League. She scored 13 points as a senior.
