Men & Women return to the ice this weekend

Both the Terrier Men and Women will begin their seasons this weekend, thanks to Hockey East scheduling adjustments announced today. The men will take to the ice Saturday afternoon, Dec. 5, with a 2:30 p.m. start against Connecticut in Storrs. The #8 women’s team will launch their season Friday night at 6 p.m. against New Hampshire in Durham. They’ll be back at the Whittemore Center Saturday for a second game with puck drop at 5 p.m. Fans will be able to watch all three games digitally at GoTerriers.com/CBS.

Although the three games are against Hockey East teams, they are non-conference. The Men will play UConn in a home-and-home series of conference tilts the first week of February.

With the Women's scheduled series hosting Vermont next weekend now postponed, the team will play its first league games Jan. 1 and 2 against UNH.

Three current Terriers—sophomores Robert Mastrosimone (phone) and Alex Vlasic, and freshman goalie Drew Commesso—were named to the Team USA Jr. National Team camp roster, along with Trevor Zegras. Camp begins Sunday, Dec. 6, but the trio is expected to be available for Saturday’s opener.

UConn began play two weekends ago with a home-and-home against UMass. The Huskies dropped a 5-1 decision on the road but rallied the next night at home with two third-period scores to secure a 2-2 tie. UConn’s series with Maine this past weekend was postponed.
