Sophomore Drew Commesso has been named Stop It Goaltender of the Month for January by Hockey East. The Chicago Blackhawks draft pick went 2-0-1 in three starts, making 85 saves including 21 in third period and overtime of BU’s win against New Hampshire. For the month, he posted a 1.59 GAA and a .944 save percentage.
This is the second monthly award for a Terrier as Case McCarthy was recognized as Hockey East Defender of the Month for November.

Three Terriers were named to the conference weekly top performers list, following BU’s 5-1 win against Brown. Sophomore Luke Tuch scored his first two goals of the season to put BU on top early. Junior Alex Vlasic had an assist and an empty-net goal to go along with three blocks and a +3 rating as one of only four Terrier defensemen dressed for the game. Sophomore Vinny Duplessis stopped 11 of 12 Brown shots to gain the win with Commesso away at the WJCs.
The finalists for the Top Moment in Terrier Hockey have been determined by fan voting: the 1995 national championship, which culminated in a 6-2 win against Maine, and the 2009 title, forever to be remembered as the DC Miracle as BU rallied to beat Miami, 4-3 in overtime.
Voting for the final choice ends tomorrow (Wednesday) at 6 p.m. ET.

Freshman defenseman Braden Doyle has left the program and joined the Penticton Vees of the BCHL. He’s the second Terrier to depart after first semester. Tyler Boucher signed a contract with the Ottawa Senators and is playing in the OHL.
BU has two defensemen in its 2022 recruit class: Lane Hutson of the NTDP U18s and West Kelowna Warriors blueliner Charles-Alexis Legault. In addition Thomas Jarman, who is out for the season with an injury, is expected to return.
Looking back
Former Terrier associate head coach and forward Steve Greeley has joined the Dallas Stars’ front office as Director of Hockey Strategy, Scouting & Development. Greeley will oversee the club's scouting and analytics initiatives, and their application to evaluating player personnel decisions at both the amateur and professional levels.

After spending two seasons on David Quinn’s staff at BU and playing a leading role in recruiting such players as Clayton Keller, Charlie McAvoy and Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, he joined the New York Rangers as assistant director of player personnel. In 2017, he was named assistant general manager of the Buffalo Sabres, a position he held until 2020.
Earlier in his career, Greeley was a scout for the Los
Angeles Kings and for the NTDP. The Scituate, Massachusetts native skated for BU from
2000 to 2004 and then played a season of minor league hockey before beginning
his scouting career.
