Freshman defenseman Ty Gallagher, who scored in both Terrier wins against Arizona State, was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the second time he has received that recognition. The first time was on Oct. 24 and he also earned Defender of the Week honors on Dec. 13. Overall, Gallagher has a 4-7-11 line. He leads all conference freshmen with 24 blocked shots.
The all-time record-holder in goals (25) for the NTDP, Gallagher was a seventh round draft pick by the Bruins in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
Two Terriers were selected for the weekly Hockey East Top Performers list. Jay O’Brien had five points (2G,3A) in the sweep of the Sun Devils, including a highlight reel breakaway goal. Drew Commesso stopped 62 of 65 shots for a .954 save percentage along with a 1.50 GAA for the weekend.

Matt Grzelcyk hit the scoresheet five time—a goal and four assists—in the Bruins’ 7-3 win against the Capitals. The five points represented a career best night for the former two-time All-American and Terrier captain. And, it was the first time a Bruin had accomplished the feat since Ray Bourque had five in a game against Washington on January 1, 1994—four days before Grzelcyk was born.
Grzelcyk’s goal came on a snapshot from the high slot and it gave Boston a 3-2 lead after falling behind, 2-0.

I've felt good about my game most of the year and points have been a little hard to come by...everything just sort of fell into place." -- 🎥 Matt Grzelcyk after notching a five-point game in the #NHLBruins 7-3 win in D.C. pic.twitter.com/CaTGUQVnA1

Wearing a red non-contact jersey, Jack Eichel skated with his Vegas Golden Knights teammates for the first time this morning. The 2015 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner was traded to Vegas by Buffalo Nov. 12 and underwent artificial disk surgery eight days later. Eichel had predicted that he could return to play three months after the procedure.

Trevor Zegras scored the game's first goal (video) and added an assist. In the shootout, he displayed his magic mitts as Anaheim edged Detroit, 4-3.
Looking ahead
2022 recruit Quinn Hutson scored his 16th and 17th goals and added an assist in Muskegon’s 7-1 thumping of Madison. His 38 points are sixth best in the USHL.
2022 recruit Jeremy Wilmer went undrafted in last season’s NHL draft, but is eligible to be selected this June as an over-ager. FC Hockey offers this draft evaluation:
The undersized Jeremy Wilmer was passed over in 2021, but he has been one of the most consistent players on the Tri-City Storm to start the 2021-22 season. Through his first 17 games, Wilmer has 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists) — good for second on the team.
“Wilmer is an undersized, offensive-minded forward with elite hands and playmaking instincts,” FCHockey regional scout Douglas Larson wrote in a recent scouting report. “He has the ability to be really shifty with head and stick fakes, and can turn on a dime making it tough to get a body on him.”
His size and work off the puck will obviously be a concern — and there’s a reason he went undrafted in his first year of eligibility — but given his production this year and his great offensive upside I strongly feel Wilmer will hear his name called in the back half of the 2022 draft.
Note: After 28 games, Wilmer has an 11-26-37 scoring line.
