BU’s
2025 recruit class grew again today after NTDP U17 defenseman Charlie Trethewey
committed to the Terriers. A 6’1” 192 lb., right-shot,
he played last season for Little Caesars 15U where he was a teammate of 5-star
forward Zachary Morin, who committed on Wednesday. And as Zach did, Charlie made his announcement with a video on Instagram.

Trethewey
was Little Caesars’ top scoring defenseman with a 20-66-86 line in 81 regular
season games. He added five points in five games at the USA Hockey 15-O Nationals. Former Terrier All-American Colby Cohen noted that Trethewey "
had the most points for any u15 D man in the
country this year."

Midway through last season, PuckPreps' Chase Allen posted:
tw-align-centerNow of the Little Caesars 15u AAA program, Charlie Trethewey is one of the top defenders in the USA 07' class. With excellent size and mobility, he does a great job at suppressing shot attempts. His ability to pick off centering passes in the defensive end is also among the best. pic.twitter.com/U8s0fWL13J

The
Ellicott City, Md.
, native played his 13U and 14U hockey with Pittsburgh Penguins Elite, helping the 14s
win the NEPAC title with 10 points in 13 games. In 2022 he played in the World Selects Invitational registering four points in nine games. Two summers ago, he participated in the CCM68.
Trethewey, who turned 16 earlier this month, is the fourth 2007 to commit to BU this summer and the third from the 2023-24 NTDP U17s, joining forwards Conrad Fondrk and Jack Murtagh.
