Six Terriers--current and future--are among the 90 invitees to the NHL's 2025 Draft Combine in Buffalo. The 27 defensemen in the group include four from BU: rising sophomore Sasha Boumedienne, incoming freshmen Carter Amico and Charlie Trethewey, and 2026 recruit Haoxi Simon Wang. Two forwards from the NTDP U18s, Jack Murtagh and Conrad Fondrk, also will be working out for and meeting with NHL scouts and executives.
RecScouting's @NHLFoley reports that 6'5", 234 Amico (photo) has recovered from a knee injury suffered last November and will participate at the Combine. Fondrk, whose U18 season was ended in March by a lower leg injury, reportedly won't begin skating until next month and will participate in the interviews.

►Scott Wheeler of The Athletic has posted his final 100 picks for the draft. It includes #33 Boumedienne, #34 Murtagh, #45 Wang, #48 Fondrk, #65 Amico and #73 Trethewey.
TheHockeyWriters.com's Top 128 had two Terriers ranked in the first round:
25. Sascha Boumedienne, LD, Boston University (NCAA)
If there was anyone that needed a big second half, it was Boumedienne. He looked more confident with his puck-moving abilities and was more impactful overall. That carried over into the U18 Championship as he finished second in tournament scoring with 14 points, being named to the All-Star team and top defender. The potential is there with his ability to lead an attack and make smart plays when he has possession.
30. Jack Murtagh, C/LW, USA U18 (NTDP)
I absolutely love Murtagh’s ability to constantly push the pace with his speed and constantly attack. He shows no quit to his game as he has that high-end motor and drive when he’s on the attack. He’s an explosive skater, can find the open lanes with ease and constantly moving to find those open spaces in order to get a shot off. He’s crafty, elusive and has the ability to take over a shift and notice him every time.
Also ranked were #35 Wang, #42 Amico, #49 Trethewey and #69 Fondrk. A Swedish defenseman, Malte Vasse, whom internet rumors have linked to BU, is #50.

While the Terriers have come out on top against Cornell in three recent NCAA Regionals and once at Agganis Arena (highlights), they've come up short in the last four meetings at MSG.
BU's out-of-conference schedule for next season will include home series with Michigan State and Colgate, a road game at Quinnipiac and, of course, the Beanpot. A few more OOCs are TBD.

Looking ahead
2026 recruit Rian Chudzinkski, who led Dexter Southfield to the New England Prep Elite 8 title game, will spend his pre-draft season with QMJHL champion Moncton Wildcat. He led Dexter with 27 goals and 25 assists in 28 games.
tw-align-centerChudzinski had a pair of goals in the Elite 8 championship. It was his only game I caught but it was abundantly clear that he’s too good for Prep School despite only being a junior. https://t.co/bfQniR3VrH pic.twitter.com/zotIgQFjvo

Just prior to his commitment to Moncton, New England Hockey Journal wrote that the 6'1", 185 forward is the most likely of last season's prep players to be drafted in 2026 after he dominated prep hockey, adding:
He played the right wing mostly, but can play center. He can drive play with his speed and skill, using his compete and fearlessness to sift through defensemen to the front of the net. He also has a great shot and showed this season that he was at his best in the biggest moments.

The Stanley Cup finals begin Wednesday with a rematch of last year's final in which Florida defeated Edmonton in seven games. Evan Rodrigues, a member of last year's champs, will look to be the fifth Terrier to win the Cup twice and join Jay Pandolfo, Scott Young, Nick Bonino and Mike Sullivan. AJ Greer, a first-year Panther, will seek to become the 13th Terrier to have his named etched onto the Cup.

Rodrigues scored his first goal of the post-season in the series-clinching game of the Eastern Conference championship series to go with 10 assists. Just before that game, the Miami Herald wrote:
His production has really picked up as of late. Since returning to the lineup in Game 7 of Florida’s second-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs after being sidelined for two games with injury, Rodrigues has posted seven assists in four games. That includes two assists in each of the first three games of the Eastern Conference final, becoming just the sixth player in NHL history to record multiple assists in each of the first three games of a conference final series and first in nearly 40 years.

— BU Hockey Stats (@BUHockeyStats) May 25, 2025ProHockeyRumors: The Sharks have signed AHL head coach John McCarthy to a contract extension, reports David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period (Twitter link). The 38-year-old has been a fixture with the Sharks going back to his playing days which started back in 2009 and ended in 2018 when he retired from playing to become an assistant with the Barracuda. McCarthy has been in charge of the Barracuda for the past three seasons with the team making the playoffs for the first time in that stretch this year.
McCarthy co-captained BU (with Matt Gilroy) to the 2009 NCAA championship before signing with the Sharks organization. Between 2009 and 2019 he played in 88 games with the Sharks and 557 games with the franchise's AHL teams in Worcester, Chicago and San Jose. He holds the Barracuda records for games played (275), goals (62), assists (76), points (138), and shorthanded goals (5).
He retired as a player following an Ischemic stroke and immediately joined the Barracuda staff as an assistant coach. He took the reins as head coach in 2022.
