UPDATED Media Day at Agganis; #3 National Ranking; Stats' Sheet previews; Recruits deliver; Belle is back

ESPN’s John Buccigross’ preseason ranking slots the Terriers at #3 behind Michigan State and Denver, and just ahead of Penn State and North Dakota. Colby Cohen reports that he and Buccigross will be at Agganis to call the two-game clash with the Spartans on October 17 & 18 on ESPN+.

PuckPreps' lead college hockey writer, Ryan Sikes, also pegs BU #3 in his preseason poll which has Michigan State and Penn State in the top two spots. Defending champion Western Michigan is #4 with the Fighting Hawks #5. Hockey East schools occupy six of the first 13 slots in his ranking.

BU Hockey Stats previews the men’s and women’s teams’ season, pointing out, among other things that Head Coach Jay Pandolfo is 19 wins away from reaching 100, that despite the departures of numerous upper-classmen, BU returns 44.67% of last season's scoring, and that goalie Mikail Yegorov yielded 4+ goals in only four of his 18 starts.

Looking ahead

2026 recruit Egor Shilov connects on his first goal in the QMJHL after spending last season in the USHL.

2026 recruit Rian Chudzinski netted a pair of goals for Moncton, but the Wildcats dropped their opener to Newfoundland, 7-5. Second goal.

2027 recruit James Scantlebury scored an unassisted goal for Chicago in an opening night 5-1 win over Sioux Falls.  

On Friday night, Scantlebury assisted on a pair of goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-1 win over the Stampede.

NHL DraftPro posted a highlight reel of 2026 5-⭐️ recruit Tynan Lawrence, projected to be an early first-round draft pick next June. He has returned to Muskegon whom he led to the Clark Cup championship last Spring.
