The trio of BU freshmen from the NTDP U18s all were selected early on day two of the NHL Entry Draft. Drew Commesso was picked by Chicago in the second round at #46 overall and was the second goalie off the board. One pick later, Montreal snared power forward Luke Tuch and Dylan Peterson was selected by St. Louis in the third round at #88. Since 2014, 28 Terriers have been selected in the first three rounds of the draft.
Commesso joins junior Jake Wise and sophomore Alex Vlasic as Blackhawks draft picks. Chicago Scouting Director Mark Kelley, son of the late Terrier head coach Jack Kelley, noted, “A lot of times, we don’t talk about goaltenders’ hockey sense, but with Drew, it’s obvious. [With] his IQ, he understands how the play develops. So that bodes well for him.”

Looking ahead
Yes, another goal for 2021 recruit Quinn Hutson, whose first-period power play goal started Penticton off to a 4-0 win against Vernon and a 5-0 record in the Okanagan Cup competition. He later added an assist for a league best 10 points (6G,4A).

Looking back
Nick Bonino has been traded from Nashville to Minnesota. Originally drafted by San Jose, the left-shot center also has had stops in Anaheim, Vancouver, Pittsburgh—where he won two Stanley Cups. He’s one of ten Terriers to win the Cup and one of four who also have won both the Cup and an NCAA title, along with Jay Pandolfo, Chris Drury and most recently, Kevin Shattenkirk. Bonino’s game-tying goal in the final seconds of regulation in the 2009 national championship game is among the most iconic tallies in program history.
tw-align-centerBest of luck to @NickBonino in Minnesota!
