Goepfert joins staff as volunteer assistant coach for goalies; first USCHO poll

Terrier Head Coach Albie O’Connell has announced a coaching staff change, naming two-time All-American Bobby Goepfert as the new volunteer goaltending coach. He succeeds Brian Ecklund who held the position the past five seasons.

A Penguins’ 2002 draft pick, the Long Island, N.Y., native starred at St. Cloud State and was named a Hobey Baker Hat Trick finalist in 2006-2007, after beginning his collegiate career at Providence.

Following a nine-year pro career in the AHL and in Germany, he began coaching with Syracuse in the USPHL. Last season he was an assistant coach with the USHL Cedar Rapids Roughriders.

Just a month ago, he was announced as volunteer goalie coach for the NCAA’s newest D1 program, Long Island University, but now he will coach the Terriers' trio of goalies: sophomore Ashton Abel and freshmen Drew Commesso and Vincent Duplessis.
