Brandon Yip’s standout rookie season in Colorado came to a screeching halt Monday when he suffered a separated shoulder in a game against Detroit. He’s expected to miss the next four to six weeks. Yip, began the season on the injured list, too, after suffering a hand injury during an exhibition game fight. Recalled to the Avs in December, Yip has an 11-7-18 line in 26 games.
Silver medal winner Ryan Whitney wasn’t from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver too long before he was head back to Canada. Whitney, whom the Duck acquired in a trade last season, was sent to Edmonton on the NHL’s trade deadline date. In 62 games this season, he has a 4-24-28 line.
