Bracketed in Albany; COVID knocks out Notre Dame UPDATED

#10 Terriers have arrived in Albany for Saturday's NCAA Regional semifinal against #7 St. Cloud. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNews. The other semifinal was supposed to pair BC and Notre Dame but College Hockey News is now reporting that the Fighting Irish are out of the tournament due to COVID protocols. It is not expected that a replacement team will be named.

UPDATE: The NCAA has moved up the BU-St. Cloud game to 1 p.m. Saturday. It will air on ESPNews.

Saturday's game also will be available in Canada on TSN.ca and the TSN app.

BU had a final practice at Agganis Arena yesterday (video) before hitting the road for Albany. The Terriers will be playing in front of fans for the first time this season as Times Union Arena will allow up to 1,750 spectators--10% of capacity--to attend the game.

"It's probably going to be a little strange, but it'll be great to get a little more noise in the building," said Head Coach Albie O'Connell, adding that preparation will be the key that he and the team spent part of the week viewing video to prepare for an unfamiliar opponent.

BU and St. Cloud have met just once before, in the 2000 NCAA regional--also in Albany--with the Terriers taking a 5-3 win.

Captain Logan Cockerill noted, "We've been practicing for the last nine months and getting better as a team, so we're really confident heading to the tournament." Commenting on the fact that the Huskies have played 12 more games than the Terriers, he said, "We don't really feel like that [difference] is going to change how we play at all."
