After earning conference Defender of the Month honors in November ( 4G,1A ) junior Case McCarthy keeps making plays for the BU offense. With assists on the game-winner in both games against New Hampshire, he’s now Hockey East Defender of the Week. The Clarence Center, N.Y., native has 11 points in 15 games, one behind his freshman total of 12. McCarthy is a N.J. Devils draft pick, having been taken in the fourth round of 2019. His younger brother, Gavin McCarthy, is a 2023 BU recruit, currently playing for Muskegon in the USHL.

Two other Terriers, who played major roles in the sweep of New Hampshire, were recognized on Hockey East’s Weekly Top Performers list:
Max Kaufman, BU (Gr., F; Rochester, N.Y.) Led BU with two goals in a weekend sweep of New Hampshire, including a terrific backhander for the overtime winner in a 2-1 triumph at UNH on Saturday. Kaufman also blocked five shots, generated five shots on goal and was a plus-two.
Drew Commesso, BU (So., G; Norwell, Mass.) Allowed just two goals in a weekend sweep of UNH. 33 of his 57 saves came in either the third period or overtime in the two wins, including 21 in the overtime victory on Saturday.
The Annual Friends of BU Hockey Holiday Skate will take place Saturday night following the exhibition game against the NTDP U18s. Supporters of Men’s and Women’s teams received an email on Dec. 3 with details about the event, including COVID-19 protocols. A ticket to Saturday’s game is required for entry.
Looking ahead
Saturday's exhibition game will offer Terrier fans a look at a pair of 2022 recruits: Devin Kaplan, a 6'3" power forward, and Lane Hutson, a puck-moving defenseman.
