As the NHL season begins, there are 230 college alums on NHL rosters and 17 of them are Terriers. That’s third most behind Michigan (25) and Minnesota. The BU contingent includes current Stanley Cup champ Jack Eichel and a quartet of Bruins: Charlie Coyle, Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie McAvoy and Kevin Shattenkirk.

►Terrier play-by-play announcer Bernie Corbett, journalist Neal Boudette (co-author of Mike Eruzione’s autobiography, “Making of a Miracle”) and I recorded a season preview discussion as we did last season. It was done in two parts, but somehow part 2 was corrupted. Here’s a link to the Part 1 audio file which runs about 35 minutes.

Looking ahead
NEW Recovered from double hip surgery, 2024 recruit Michael Chambre is polishing his netminding skills with the Sioux Falls Stampede. He earned his first win this past weekend, stopping 31 of 33 shots in a 3-2 victory over Tri-City.
The 18-year-old was under duress in the third period as the Storm made a strong push to erase a 3-0 deficit. However, Chambre stood tall in the final minute with not one but two saves, including one with under three seconds left in regulation to preserve the win. (Video)
“He certainly has a presence back there and is off to a great start for us,” Coach Eric Rud said of Chambre.
2025 recruit John McNelis scored his first goal for the Stampede the previous night in a 7-4 win against Waterloo.
● USHL Prospecting Team of the Week: Sioux Falls
►USHL Prospecting’s look at the league’s top rookies includes 2025 recruit Zach Morin, who was tendered by Youngstown following a standout season with Little Caesars. He has 2G,2A in five games.
One of two high-profile tender signings for Youngstown last year, Zach Morin had a quiet showing at the USHL Fall Classic, but he has shown flashes of what made him so coveted after recording 130 points in 77 games for the Little Caesars 15U club last year. The BU commit forced eight shots on net over his last three games, resulting in two goals and four points. Morin seems to be settling in, and the points could start coming in bunches.
Looking Back
