#18 Terriers travel down Rt. 95 to Providence to begin a critical home-and-home series with the #11 Friars. Tonight's game at Schneider Arena has a 7:00 p.m. ET puck drop and will be live streamed on ESPN+.

With just 11 regular-season games remaining, BU needs wins to move up in the NCAA Percentage Index (NPI) and to solidify a home-ice berth in the Hockey East tournament. Terriers are currently third in the conference standings, one point behind Providence. However the Friars have three games in hand and will present a formidable challenge this weekend.

"At this point of the season, every game gets a little more critical," Coach Jay Pandolfo said in his weekly media call. "Providence is a really good team. They just swept BC. They present challenges, they play hard. Their building, it's tough to play there. Things happen quickly. They're right on top of you. We have to understand as a team that it's not going to be easy. It's going to be a difficult game."

Asked about the Terrier having more success recently on the road than at home, he said, "We try to keep the preparation the same (away vs. home). For whatever reason, we seem to be willing to play a simple game on the road than we do at home. At home, we get away from being consistent the whole game. [On the road] the last three games (all wins), "that tells me we're playing with good details and playing the game the way we want to have success...It's got to be the same mindset going into tomorrow night.

Despite the absence due to injury of top goalie Philip Svedbäck, Providence is playing its best hockey of the season. After playing to a 7-6-1 mark in the first two months of the season, the Friars have won six of their last seven, including back-to-back sweeps of Maine and BC this month. Freshman netminder Jack Parsons has won all four starts since Svedbäck's injury and carries a 2.23 GAA and a .924 save percentage.

6'6" freshman forward Roger McQueen leads PC scorers with 19 points (8G,11A). Sophomores Logan Sawyer and John Mustard each have scored nine goals and have 18 and 17 points respectively. Another freshman, Jonathan Fauchon has a 7-7-14 scoring line.

The Friars' defense corps is young with four freshmen, along with returnees Andrew Centrella and sophomores Tomas Machu and Alexander Bales.

Looking ahead

2027 recruit Freddy Meyer collected his seventh assist in Quebec’s 4-1 win against Shawingan. The former Rivers School standout has eight points in 36 games.

2027 or 2028 recruit Andrei Nikolaev stopped 17 of 20 shots in Des Moines’ 4-3 overtime win over Fargo. It was the first USHL win for the 6'4" Moscow native, who was acquired by the Bucaneers from NAHL New Jersey on January 9.

Looking back

With the Jack Eichel and the Golden Knights in town to play the Bruins, Vegas posted a mash-up of Eichel highlights as a Terrier and in the NHL.

In the game at TD Garden, Charlie McAvoy got the home team on the board first as Boston built a 4-0 lead after two periods.

Eichel keyed a Vegas rally early in the third period with his 18th goal, quickly followed by an assist to make 4-2. Vegas got one more, but were edged by the Bruins, 4-3

Clayton Keller scored an unassisted extra-attacker goal with 34 seconds left in regulation and then tallied the overtime game-winner in Utah's 5-4 thriller over the Flyers. The Mammoth's captain, who also added an assist, has a 15-34-49 scoring line in 50 games. Trevor Zegras assisted on two goals for Philadelphia.
