Unranked; Miracle documentary on Netflix

 

Following two losses to Providence, this past weekend, BU is not ranked in either the USCHO Division 1 Poll or the USA Hockey Division 1 Poll. It's the first time this has happened in Head Coach Jay Pandolfo's tenure.

2026 or 2027 recruit Braidy Wassilyn scored a pair of goals and assisted in another as London blitzed Peterborough, 10-2. The 5'11" left wing has a 15-17-32 scoring line in 40 games. 

2026 recruit Caleb Malhotra scored his 23rd goal in Brantford's 7-1 win against Barrie. With 61 points in 45 games, Malhotra is second in the OHL in scoring, one point behind the leader.

The Athletic's Cory Pronman's midterm draft rankings (subscription) has Tynan Lawrence #5, Malhotra #7 and Egor Shilov #30. Pronman projects Lawrence and Malhotra each to be an "all-around top-line center" in the NHL.

Elite Prospects posted a new top 20 draft ranking--a consensus of NHL scouts--has Lawrence at #5, Malhotra at #8 and Shilov as one of six honorable mentions. 

With 59 points in 42 games, Shilov is seventh in QMJHL scoring, while leading all rookies.

Looking back 

A new documentary on the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team--Miracle: The Boys of '80--debuts this Friday on Netflix. A screening for 13 of the 20 team members was held at their recent reunion in Lake Placid. Check out the trailer with a few familiar BU faces. Mike Eruzione and Jim Craig, along with Robbie McClanahan and Buzz Schneider appeared on The Today Show this morning to discuss the documentary.

AHL 

Shane Lachance scored his seventh goal in Utica's 6-3 loss to Syracuse. 

Wilmer Skoog scored his 15th goal and assisted on Robert Mastrosimone's eighth tally in Charlotte's 5-2 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Skoog earned the game's first-star.
