The Men's and Women's Hockey at the Olympics continue to have a strong BU flavor.
Macklin Celebrini scored twice—the first on a penalty shot—and added an assist in Canada's 10-2 rout of France to clinch the #1 seed in the Men's medal round. He became the first NHL player to score on a penalty shot at the Olympics. With four goals and two assists in three games, he's tied for the tournament goal-scoring lead and also set a new record for goals by a teenager at an Olympics with NHL players, passing defenseman Olli Maata, who had three goals for Team Finland in Sochi in 2014.

Brady Tkachuk picked up his third point of the Olympics, an assist, in Team USA's 5-1 win over Germany. He's tied with his brother Matthew for the team's lead in plus/minus with +5. Jack Eichel has four points (G,3A) and is +3. Clayton Keller saw his first game action in the win against Germany.
The U.S., who clinched the #2 medal round seed, and Canada will await Tuesday's qualifier round results to learn who they'll face in the quarter finals. If the two favorites win in the quarterfinals and semifinals, they'll meet in Thursday's gold-medal game.

In the women's semifinals, Marie-Philip Poulin scored both of Canada's goals in a 2-1 win against Switzerland. Now in her fifth Olympics, Poulin set a new career record for goals in the Olympics with 20. She'll take aim on a fifth gold medal in the championship game Thursday against Team USA, who defeated Sweden 5-0.
Former BU netminder Andrea Brändli, playing in her third Olympic games, was a standout, stopping 44 shots to keep Switzerland in the game.

Looking ahead
2026 recruit Caleb Malhotra's 26th goal, early in the third period, was the game-winner as Brantford edged Kingston, 3-2. The 6'2" center initiated the play and then finished it while being tripped outside the crease. With 68 points, he extended his team scoring record for a rookie.

A consensus of scouts polled by OHLProspect.com ranked Malhotra as the #2 draft prospect from the OHL. A few of their comments:
"Some scouts think Malhotra could be the first center taken. His ability to wait out opponents before making a last-second pass into a scoring lane is unmatched. Malhotra is a great skater who plays a strong two-way game and loves getting involved physically, as well. Malhotra’s hockey IQ is among the best you’ll find in this class, and he’s a tremendous passer, too. Scouts are still wondering if he can be a first-line center – but most say, at minimum, he’ll be a second-liner." - Steven Ellis
He has just been a model of consistency on both sides of the puck this season. He has been extremely productive, but his ability to read and adapt to situations easily makes him a real threat. He knows when to attack with his speed, sneak in undetected to the open ice and can put pressure on players when he doesn’t have the puck and always puts himself in a great spot to be open. He has the speed to catch defenders off guard on the rush and his playmaking vision is outstanding; spotting seams easily, opening lanes up to attack and can make solid off look passes to fool defenders. He’s a gifted two-way centre and produces like one." - Peter Baracchini
2026 or 2027 recruit Egor Shilov scored his 25 goal in Victoriaville's 5-2 loss to St. John. With 66 points, he is seventh in the Q in scoring and leads all rookies.
