Flexing their offensive muscles again, the #14/13 Terriers scored three times in the first 91 seconds and raced away from #19 Maine, 7-2, before 3,525 at Agganis Arena. Seven different skaters found the net, including three registering their first collegiate goals.
The night before Halloween is Mischief Night and the Terrier figuratively "egged" the Black Bears' goal, adding a fourth goal before the five-minute mark to drive Maine goalie Petter Wickström Stumer from his cage. BU would add a pair of goals in the second period and one in the third.
Terriers came out fast and immediately began turning strong defensive play and neutral-zone turnovers into scoring chances that were converted through superior puck movement in the O-zone. Add to that, an aggressive penalty kill and a rapidly improving power play (2 tallies on 4 attempts) and you have a very complete game from the Scarlet & White.

Tynan Lawrence got the mischief started just 29 seconds after puck drop. He chased down Maine's Judah Markway, raced in the offensive zone and beat Stumer for his fifth goal of the season.

The cheering had not yet subsided when BU sped up ice on a 3-on-2 that Xavier Villeneuve joined. With some of the prettiest passing of the game, Caleb Malhotra dished the puck to Conrad Fondrk who relayed a no-look feed to Jack Harvey. The Terrier captain passed up a Grade A chance to set up Villeneuve for the freshman blueliner's first goal as a Terrier.

Goal number three came just 30 seconds later, again on the rush. Jonathan Morello carried the puck across the blueline, split a pair of defenders and found Ben Merrill alone in the slot. The Canadiens' draft pick slammed on the brakes and backhanded the puck under the crossbar. It was his second goal of the season and second in two games. Niklas Aaram-Olsen had the second assist.

BU had three goals on three shots!
When Stumer was called for hooking, BU had its first man-advantage and with more slick passing, they quickly cashed in. Villeneuve slid the puck to Malhotra in the right circle. He one-timed a cross-ice pass to Viktor Nörringer at the left dot and he one-timed a shot that beat Stumer to the stick side. It was the Swedish wing's first goal as a Terrier.

Moments later, Tanner Klimpke dented the Terrier lead, making it 4-1. A shot from the point took a funny bounce of the end boards and went right to Klimpke, who beat a lunging Mikhail Yegorov.

First period shots were 16-6 BU.
Midway through the second period, BU connected again by getting behind the Black Bears' defense. Merrill moved the puck up ice to Carter Amico entering the Maine zone. His pass sent a streaking Aaram-Olsen in alone for a backhander that beat relief goalie Albin Boija to the glove side. Another first collegiate goal and a 5-1 lead.

Swede Vikor Nörringer and Norwegian Niklas Aaram-Olsen both scored for the Terriers tonight, it is the first time since January 22nd, 2016 (also vs. Maine) that Terriers from two different Nordic countries scored in the same game (Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson 🇸🇪 / Ahti Oksanen 🇫🇮)

Late in the middle period, Nick Roukounakis' pass to Haoxi Wang at the left point sent the big defenseman racing to the net, trying to join the first-goal club. At the crease, Boija jabbed the puck off Wang's stick, but Brandon Svoboda was right there to rap home the rebound for his second goal of the season.

With BU on a 5-on-3 power play a minute into the third period, more defensive disarray by Maine led to a seventh Terrier goal. Ryder Ritchie won a puck in a corner scrum and sent it to Jack Murtagh skating behind the Black Bears' cage. He quickly centered it to Fondrk--"coming down central"--for a one-time blast past Boija's blocker. It was his first goal of the season and BU's second power-play tally of the night.

BU had killed off three Maine power plays before getting burned on a fourth one late in the period. Max Scott connected from the right post to round out the scoring.
Final shots were 37-30 with Yegorov turning aside 28. Maine had a slight edged in faceoff, 27-26. Svoboda went 7 of 14 at the dot. BU blocked nine shots to Maine's eight.
