#14/13 Terriers continue their string of Hockey East weekend series, hosting #19 Maine for two games at Agganis Arena. Puck drop for Friday's contest is at 7:00 p.m. ET, while Saturday's rematch has a 6:00 p.m. start. Friday's game will be a NESN broadcast; ESPN+ will stream both games.
After struggling to score goals in their first four games, BU (4-2-0) found the net 10 times in the series split with UConn, but also yielded eight goals after allowing just four in the previous four games.
The ten BU goals were scored by 10 different skaters. In the 6-3 win, five Terriers had multiple point games, led by Xavier Villeneuve (three assists) who earned conference Rookie of the Week honors. Tynan Lawrence leads the team with a 4-3-7 scoring line while his linemate, Jack Murtagh has five points (G,4A) which is nearly half of the 11 he compiled last season. Kamil Bednarik, Ryder Ritchie (2 EA and 1 OT goals) and Villeneuve also have five points.
With Bednarik suspended for one game following his game misconduct, freshman Viktor Norringer will draw into the lineup with Brandon Svoboda likely to slide over to C3. Junior Mikhail Yegorov has posted a 1.98 GAA and a .924 save percentage.
BU has won the last five meetings with Maine at Agganis Arena and owns a 20-6-3 mark against the Black Bears on home ice.
The Black Bears swept Colgate at home by identical 3-0 scores last weekend after splitting series with Holy Cross and Quinnipiac.
A pair of transfer, Lee Parks (Lowell) and Tanner Klimpke (Robert Morris) have paced the offense with six points apiece. Parks has five goals. A third transfer, Isa Parekh (Bemidji) and returnee Lukas Peterson each have five points while blueliner Loic Usereau has three tallies.
Veteran netminder Albin Boija has made four starts with a tidy 1.52 GAA and a .926 save percentage. Junior Petter Wickström Stumer, a transfer from Canisius, pitched the first shutout against Colgate.
Check back for Friday's Terrier line-up.

Pandolfo Media Call highlights
▪ On more confident play of younger players
"I'll start with the guys who were freshmen last year. I've seen a lot of improvement in those guys. I'll start with Tynan Lawrence, Murtagh, Ritchie, Fondrk, Trethewey, 'Mico, All these guys look like they've taken steps from last year. That's a huge positive for us.They're playing with more confidence. The new players: Villeneuve had his best game, Malhotra had his best game. Wang got off to a good start right away. I like the way our younger guys look and how they're contributing."
▪ On why the team's offensive production spiked:
"We finished on some of our chance. Even Saturday and going back to Thursday where we had 50 shots, we still left some on the table with some of the grade chances we had. Harvey scored a beautiful goal... but he had three or four grade A's before that. It is a confidence boost for our team scoring 10 goals in the last two games."
▪ On playing Maine who blanked Colgate twice last weekend:
"It's gonna be a challenge. I watched Maine's last four games, the two against Quinnipiac and the two with Colgate, and they're playing very well defensively. Protecting the slot very well. Not giving up a lot (of chances)...We have to find a way to create O-zone time, create second and third chances. Find a way to get inside."
▪ On dealing with physical play:
"In the first six games, I've had no issue with our guys shying away from physical play. It's been there and I expect it to be there. Maine plays very physical. They're gonna finish every check. We're ready for it. Our guys understand."
The fourth-year head coach noted that both BU and Maine are looking to re-establish their identities following disappointing 2025-26 seasons.
“This was a pure development path for him that he needed to take, and he bought into it.” How a midseason return to the USHL helped Carter Amico rebuild his confidence, rediscover his game and earn his way back to BU. Read the full story below. ✍️ @CMtalkssports 🔗: https://t.co/saavyHPRt2

► College Hockey Insider's Mike McMahon looks at the performances of teams in his preseason top 16, including BU, whom he had slotted at #12.
No. 12 Boston University: I wrote about BU’s offense in last week’s mailbag. It got better against UConn last weekend, though the Terriers also allowed eight goals. Overall, I think BU is in good shape. The goaltending and team defense look much better, and that had to be the biggest focus coming into the season.
Looking ahead
Four Terrier recruits played in Wednesday night’s QMJHL Top Prospects Game. The Athletic’s Scott Wheeler wrote about several in his Top draft takeaways recap.
Carter Meyer played well for Team Lafleur. He finished with two assists and was plus-3. He was around the puck a lot, showed his poise on it and was his usual scrappy self, taking a rough penalty away from the play. His discipline — or lack thereof — has drawn some criticism early this season, but he remains arguably the top American prospect in this age group for his blend of skill and competitiveness as a center.
Jamie Glance’s skating and playmaking on the puck flashed for Team Crosby even though he was held off the scoresheet. He finished with five shots and was the losing side’s most noticeable player offensively. He’s a hot topic right now and has outplayed Joseph early on this season in Saint John.

Elite Prospect’s Robert Chalmers: "Jamie Glance been phenomenal tonight for Équipe Crosby. Flying everywhere."
Wheeler noted that James Scantlebury “the hottest player in the Q was quiet Wednesday.” When asked about goalie Andrei Nikolayev, a 2028 recruit, he replied, “he was good.” The 6’5” Russian made several sharp saves, stopping 12 of 13 shots in his 30 minutes, yielding only a breakaway goal. Clearly the best of the four goalies in the game.
Wheeler also has issued his free-read preliminary Top 64 2027 draft rankings. He has Meyer at #9, Glance at #14 and Scantlebury at #20.
Malik L’Italien, a 6’4” defenseman for whom BU is rumored to be in the mix, is #15. Wheeler’s comment on his Top Prospects performance:
Malik L’Italien, one of the top D prospects in this class, was minus-3 on the losing side of the game and misread/misplayed a couple of plays defensively, but his size, profile and skating all really pop in this setting, and he has all of the tools to be a front-half-of-the-first-round selection.
L'Italien was added to Team CHL for the Dec. 1 & 2 CHL-USA Prospects Challenge, joining Meyer who was rostered previously.
Earlier in the week The Athletic posted a lengthy profile of Meyer which also featured his dad, former BU captain and NHLer Freddy Meyer, and brother, Freddy Meyer V, also a 2027 recruit.
Carter plays a different position [from his D-man Dad] and got some more height from his mom — he’s a 6-foot-1, 178-pound center. He also has a chance to one-up his old man this year: He’s going to get selected in the 2027 NHL Draft. And high. Maybe as high as the top 10. Maybe even as the first American picked.

Carter said that hard style of play comes from his dad, who he called his biggest role model.
“That’s how me and my brother both are. We try to play with that edge just like he did and play physical. That toughness and competitiveness is a huge part of my game and something I’ll always continue to bring,” Carter said. “I’d say I’m a 200-foot center who is definitely going to bring physicality and get under the other team’s skin, but I’m also going to make plays and put my teammates in the best spot, and when I get the puck on my stick I think I can put it in the back of the net.”

Looking back
Cole Hutson recorded his first two-goal game in the NHL as Washington edged Nashville, 4-3. Through 12 games, the Terrier All-American leads all rookie defensemen with four goals and seven points.
