#9 Terriers battled back from a 3-1 deficit to tie #17/16 Lowell in the third period, but a pair of Riverhawk goals 34 seconds apart restored the visitors lead and they skated to a 5-3 win. With the loss, BU drops to 4-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in Hockey East.
BU scored two power play goals, both on redirections by Shane Lachance, and Cole Eiserman connected on a breakaway.
Addressing the team's slump, Coach Jay Pandolfo said, “It’s the coaching staff, it’s the players, it’s the goalie, all of it. We have to find a way to come together and find a way to put some good stretches of hockey together.”
He pointed out that in Friday's loss and last Saturday's to Michigan, a failure to kill a third-period penalty proved fatal.
The opening period was dominated by both defenses with few offensive opportunities resulting in a shot on goal and fewer grade A's. A Riverhawks penalty gave the home team it's first man-advantage and they quickly made it pay off.
Co-captain Ryan Greene sent the puck to Quinn Hutson at the left point. The junior wing closed toward the circle and fired a 40-foot shot that Lachance deflected past goalie Henry Welsch for his third goal.

Lowell took control of the game as the second period began, recovering pucks and cycling to maintain possession in the offensive zone. The River Hawks scored three times in the first ten minutes with tallies from Connor Eddy, Ian Carpenter and Ben Meehan.
BU narrowed the deficit to one goal on its second power play. Greene set up Eiserman in the right circle for a one-time blast, and again, Lachance got his stick on the puck to beat Welsch.

Going for an equalizer, Terriers put on the pressure as the third period began, with five early shots. At the nine minute mark, Cole Hutson rifled a long headman pass from the BU goal line to Eiserman just before he crossed the Lowell blueline. The freshman skated into the left circle and wristed home his sixth goal to bring BU even at three apiece.

A BU penalty gave the visitors their first power play and 2:28 after BU's tying goal, Lowell's Libor Nemec broke the tie, ripping a shot from the left circle beating Mathieu Caron high to his glove side.

Just over half a minute later, BU failed to gain control of the puck deep in the defensive zone. Instead it went to an unmarked Dillan Bentley in the left circle for a shot that sailed past Caron, blocker side. 5-3 visitors.
BU pulled the goalie with two minutes remaining but couldn't erase the deficit.
Final shots were 29-27 BU, who also had the edge in faceoffs, 39-28, but not on the scoreboard.
