#9 Terriers erupted for a five-goal second period to defeat #17/16 Lowell, 5-2, at Tsongas Arena, ending a three-game skid. Assistant captain Quinn Hutson led the way with a pair of goals, with single goals coming from Matt Copponi, Jack Harvey and Cole Hutson.

Sophomore Max Lacroix, making his first regular-season start, turned aside 17 of 19 shots, allowing two power-play goals.

"That was probably our most complete game," Coach Jay Pandolfo told the media post-game. "We were competitive right from the start. I thought everyone contributed."

"We have to build off that," he continued. "We had a tough stretch the last three games. We responded tonight. Great to see Max Lacroix get his first collegiate win. He was excellent in there."

Regarding the decision to rest Mathieu Caron and start Lacroix, Pandolfo explained, "I just thought it was a good game for Caron to get a reset. He's {Lacroix] always ready, always prepared, so we felt very confident with Max in the net tonight, and he showed he's ready."

BU had six power-play opportunities but was unable to convert any of them. Two of those power plays came in the scoreless opening period when the Terriers outshot Lowell, 8-4.

The home team opened the scoring just a minute into the middle period when Copponi and Quinn Hutson raced into the Lowell zone on a 2-on-1. The transfer center from Merrimack fed Hutson just outside the crease for a backhander that went under the bar to beat goalie Henry Welsch.

Forty-three seconds later, Copponi doubled the lead on a highlight-reel effort, stick-handling through two defenders before burying his own rebound. Jack Harvey assisted.

Then at the 2:50 mark, Sascha Boumedienne drew a five-minute major penalty—plus a game misconduct—for grabbing the facemask. BU limited the Riverhawks to just two shots during the extended man-advantage, but one of them cut the Terrier lead in half. Isac Jonsson skated to the top of the left circle and fired the puck past a partially screened Lacroix.

Lacroix kept the Terrier lead intact moments later when he stoned Pierson Brandon's breakaway attempt.

Midway through the period, Copponi controlled the puck at the right point and slid it to Tom Willander, speeding into the right circle. Harvey, who had initiated the play in the neutral zone, beat a defender to the left-side of the crease and converted Willander's slick centering pass for his third goal of the season and a 3-1 BU lead.

Cole Hutson joined the scoring at 13:45. As Kamil Bednarik won an offensive zone draw back to Hutson, a Lowell skater collided with Doug Grimes, losing his stick. That gave Hutson the space to close to the high slot and rip a shot past Welsch for his second of the season, extending the lead to 4-1.

A BU penalty for too many men on the ice put the visitors back on the power play and Libor Nemec scored his second of the weekend.

With two minutes left in the period, Quinn Hutson restored the three goal margin when Aiden Celebrini's headman pass sent him in on a breakaway. He wristed a shot past Welsch on the glove side for a 5-2 lead.

A scoreless third period saw few grade A chances at either end and BU headed home with its fifth victory.

Terriers had a major edge in draws, winning 36 of 58. Ryan Greene won 16 of 21, while Copponi and Shane Lachance each won five of eight.
